My name is Tyler S. Morren, and I am a Software Engineer. I originally went to school for Civil Engineering, but during my last semester, I realized I wanted to do something different. So I started teaching myself the basics of Web Development while finishing school. I learned the basics of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript through Khan Academy and loved it.
Two days after I graduated with my Civil Engineering degree, I was back in school for Web Development. Since then, I have received a Web Development Certificate and have continued to learn as much as I can about the field. In school I learned about PHP, MySQL, jQuery, Bootstrap, and WordPress. In my free time, I learn about emerging web technologies and diversify my skills.
As a professional, I have 7+ years of experience working on numerous consumer facing SaaS applications. I have experience with both Frontend and Backend development. For backend development, I primarily use Laravel/Lumen, and for frontend I primarily use Angular2+, although it varies by project.
Outside of development, I'm a huge basketball fan and enjoy playing video games with my friends!

Although Civil Engineering isn't directly related to Web Development, I learned a lot of valuable skills. The most important skills I learned were critical thinking and project planning.
While earning my certificate, I gained experience in HTML, CCS, JavaScript, jQuery, WordPress, MySQL, and PHP. I also learned the basics of web design and how to plan a website.
For this certificate, I learned about the UX Design process, and completed three case studies/projects. This included user research, as well as making designs both web and mobile apps in tools such as Figma and Adobe XD.
For this certificate, I learned the basics of networking and system architecture. I also got hands-on experience working with Amazon Web Services.
